After 13 years in office, our beloved Bishop Jane has formally retired as Bishop of Edmonton.
The woman who, to a great degree, began her vocation as the rector of our church so many years ago, has hung up her mitre as of Friday, April 16.
As is fitting to a woman of such class and renown, many accolades were given to her by everyone from the Mayor of Edmonton, Don Iveson, to other bishops and archbishops from across the country and as far away as Buyé.
There were also a number of events held in her honour. Sadly, because of the pandemic, they weren’t as regal or stunning as they should have been.
Here are a few links to recent events that you might want to enjoy:
- Her farewell service from the cathedral in Edmonton was streamed and recorded and you can view it on YouTube. Fortunately, Bishop Jane’s family were able to attend, as were a number of Anglican dignitaries.
- Margaret Glidden of the Diocesan Synod Office wrote an excellent article about the farewell service.
- Mark Connolly of CBC Radio (and former reader at our A Christmas Carol event) interviewed Bishop Jane on the Edmonton A.M. show .
