Messy Church is in full swing at St. Augustine’s – Parkland. October 13 was our fourth gathering and the theme was Pets and Peace. Messy Church revisited the Season of Creation’s wrap-up in the October 4 Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with another pet blessing service, and in our crafts and actiivities we considered the significance of pets and other animals in our lives and in the Kingdom of God. Our theme scripture was Isaiah 11:1-3, 6-9. We made sandwich bag aquariums, pet finger puppets, and “falling sparrows” attached to God’s hand.
Messy Church is a family-focused service for people who find that Sunday morning does not work well for them. We bring families together and provide a way for them to encounter Jesus, through crafts and a shared meal focused on a theme from the Bible. Prayers and singing are also part of this service. Messy Church is currently happening one Saturday per month and anyone interested in participating should contact Reverend Billy.
