This page contains information about some of the various ministries happening at St. Augustine's. Please take a moment to check out what's happening! Most of this information is cross listed to the front page of this website -- you'll get there by clicking the "home" button on the Main Menu, to your left. For dates and times, please check our ministries calendar -- you'll get there by clicking on the button in the menu at the top of this page. There is much more to come for this page, as it will soon contain information on ministries that are not events-based. Happy traveling! Adventure Centre The Adventure Centre is our program for kids aged 4-11 that runs during the first 45 minutes of the Sunday morning service. Kids participate in a short service of kid-oriented worship, a craft, an activity, and a Bible Story. Anglican Church Women The Anglican Church Women are a very active group of committed women who serve the parish and community through fundraising, hospitality, and outreach. The ACW hosts the SpringTea, the Christmas Bazaar, and many other events at the parish. Christian Education The Wednesday Evening Education Series is a great way to learn more about our faith. At the moment, we're exploring a video series by NT Wright called "Simply Christian". Education runs after the Wednesday evening service, at about 7:30pm. Tea and munchies are provided. Child care is not provided at this time, but we hope to be able to meet this need in the near future. Everglades Service On the first Wednesday morning of the month, St. Augustine's provides a service of singing and prayer at the Everglades Lodge. The service starts at 10am. Friends @ Four Friends @ Four is a new event that happens on the last Saturday of each month from 4:00 - 6:30pm. Based on a Messy Church model, we meet to learn a Bible story, have a wee bit of praise, participate in an activity together, and have a meal. This ministry is mainly for families who would like to worship together, and for families who are interested in learning more about Christianity -- or who just want to explore a Jesus-centered community to see what we're about. Oasis Moms' Group The Oasis Moms' Group is a way for moms with kids aged 0-6ish to gather together for fellowship, prayer, and Bible Study. You may have seen a poster or two up around town! We meet on the second Tuesdays of the month at 10:00am, and end the morning with a simple lunch at around 11:30. Childcare is not provided, but there is a nursery with lots of toys. Please call Loreen Paterson at 780-962-5131 for more information. Seniors' Group We have a seniors' fellowship group that runs every first and third Thursday of the month, at 10:30, in the foyer. Coffee, tea, and munchies are provided. This fall we'll be starting a Bible Study on the book of Genesis, and the Patriarchs that will run until we wrap up in the spring. St. Augustines' Youth St. Augustine's Youth meet on the third Friday of the month for a fun event and fellowship! We also have a Bible study each Sunday morning during the first part of the service. Check out the Youth page for more information! Taizé Prayer Service St. Augustine's offers a service in the tradition of Taize Prayer on the fourth Sundays of each month, at 7pm. This is a great way to calm your soul and mind, and to enter into the presence of God through meditative song and contemplative prayer. Womens' Retreat Days The first of our retreat days was held in August -- you can read all about it on the Parish News page! Each season will feature a retreat day based on an aspect of what it means to live in God's love, and why it is so important to share it with others. Our next retreat day will be on August 21 at the Canaan Prayer Gardens. |
